Milan is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of ConnectedCompute, an international digital infrastructure business headquartered in Dubai. With over 30 years of experience in technology investment banking, equity research, asset management and executive management of leading data centre businesses, Milan brings differentiated strategic insights from a global perspective. He is able to uniquely join dots by leveraging a deep understanding of the constituents of the technology and communiations ecosystems. 

Born in Kenya, Milan has, during his career, cultivated extensive relationships across the African continent, where the digital infrastructure opportunities remain immense and continue to expand. This is reflected in ConnectedCompute’s current pipeline discussions alongside multiple projects in Europe and the Middle East.

Milan read Economics (MA Hons First Class) at Selwyn College, Cambridge and has an Executive MBA from Quantic. He is married with three children and resides in Dubai, UAE.

Introducing Milan

During over 25 years of investment banking and equity market experience at global banks and as a senior portfolio manager at one of the largest institutional investors, Milan worked on many high-profile successful IPOs and other complex capital markets transactions. Milan started his career at Prudential Portfolio Managers where he was Senior Fund Manager responsible for portfolios worth in excess of £350m. This included leading the launch of one of the earliest ESG funds in the UK.

In 1999, he moved to UBS Warburg, where data centres became a specialist subject. Since then, he has been deeply involved in the digital infrastructure industry and advised on many of the landmark capital markets transactions and IPOs in the sector, including for Telecity and Interxion.

For the last six years, Milan has been working in senior management iroles in the data centre industry. In 2017, he was appointed Senior Adviser to the CEO at Interxion, reporting directly to the company’s legendary CEO, David Ruberg. After five years at Interxion, Milan was headhunted to be Senior Vice President at Edgnex Data Centres, a subsidiary of the expansive DAMAC Group, one of the leading real estate developers in the Middle East.

In 2023, Milan founded ConnectedCompute, a digital infrastructure business focusing on Africa, Middle East and select markets in Europe. The company is experiencing rapid growth driven by projects across its core regions.

  • A leading City of London equity research and corporate advisory boutique firm. I am Senior Adviser with responsibility for the Global Technology Sector and Middle East Region.

  • Edgnex Data Centres is a fully-owned subsidiary of the DAMAC Group, one of the largest real estate groups in the Middle East. I was Senior Vice President of Data Centres reporting directly to the Chairman of DAMAC Group, with responsibility for the African business and multiple other geographic initiatives

  • - Reported directly to the CEO of Interxion, David Ruberg. The primary remit was corporate development and strategy, with a particular focus on expansion and development of the African business, on the strategic evolution of the Marseille platform, and on acquisitions in other markets, such as Greece and Croatia.

    - Joined Interxion prior to its acquisition by Digital Realty, and after completion of the transaction in March 2020, the role continued and evolved to being part of a three-person team managing and leading the development of Digital Realty’s African business in existing and new countries.

    - Led the process to identify and work with the management teams of acquisition targets in Nigeria, culminating in the acquisition of Medallion Communications in Lagos, against determined competition from Equinix, Rack Centre and other potential acquirers. Subsequent in-depth involvement in the management and strategic development of the Nigerian and broader West African business, including in the 2Africa subsea cable PFE/SLTE deployments.

    - Instrumental role in the development of iColo in East Africa, working closely with the CEO of Interxion and the founder of iColo. Milestones included the execution of the buyout by Interxion of a majority stake in iColo and the concurrent Pembani Remgro minority investment into the company.

    - Closely involved in the development of the market-leading campus in Marseille, which has grown into a highly successful subsea cable hub following Interxion’s acquisition of the SFR landing station in 2014.

  • - Differentiated, in-depth consulting and research engagements, assisting senior management, private equity owners, institutional investors and advisory firms with corporate development, market analysis and positioning, pre-transaction messaging, investor communications and identification of potential transactions.
